Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the Wimbledon fourth round after defeating Jelena Ostapenko on July 3. She will next face Naomi Osaka in a rematch of their earlier encounters this season.
Sabalenka, the top seed, overcame Ostapenko in straight sets on Centre Court. She recorded nine aces and limited unforced errors to six while the Latvian committed 18.
In her post-match comments, Sabalenka said she expects another tough contest. “Another aggressive player. Another very powerful match. I’m ready to fight and do whatever it takes to get through,” she stated. She added that facing a player who matches her power “is really scary” but expressed satisfaction with the straight-sets win.
Osaka reached the same stage by beating Daria Kasatkina 6-1, 6-3. The fourth-round match on July 4 marks the fourth meeting between the two players in four months, with Sabalenka holding a 3-0 head-to-head edge this year.
