Minister President Sven Schulze has called for stronger pressure on welfare recipients. The CDU politician criticised that many benefits are received without any return contribution.
Saxony-Anhalt Minister President Sven Schulze called in an interview with the Rheinische Post for more obligations for welfare recipients. He said there were too many cases where benefits were received without demanding any return contribution. This was unfair to those who financed it.
Anyone who was fully employable and sat at home from Monday to Friday should not simply continue like that in future, Schulze said. He suggested offering community work and pushing more strongly for it. There were thousands of open positions in Saxony-Anhalt, for example during harvest time, which were currently often filled by helpers from Eastern Europe.
Schulze emphasised that the potential among benefit recipients must be used. There were too many excuses why work was not accepted. The legal situation was changing, and he would enforce it.
