Institutions including Liceo del Verbo Divino Tacloban, Marasbaras National High School, Leyte Progressive High School, and Leyte Normal University announced enhanced protocols. These include bag inspections starting June 23, visitor logbooks, and ID checks. Toy guns and sharp objects are prohibited.
The Department of Education suspended classes in all 64 public elementary and secondary schools in Tacloban on June 23. The Tacloban City government ordered strict enforcement of the 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew for minors and increased police patrols.
Two minor suspects are in police custody. Authorities continue to investigate the motive. President Marcos ordered a thorough probe into the incident.
