Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wore an updated Converse SHAI 001 sneaker without zippers during Team Canada training camp. The new lace-up design replaces the original model's zippered shroud while keeping the same sculpted shape.
The Canadian basketball star introduced the revised shoe in playful colorways, including a multi-toned pink version and a beige model with leopard prints on the tongue and light green interior. Photos of the sneakers were shared online by accounts covering the training sessions.
Gilgeous-Alexander had been scheduled to debut the lace-up edition during the 2026 NBA Finals if the Oklahoma City Thunder reached that stage. The team's season ended earlier in the Western Conference Finals.
The SHAI 001 remains a Converse product even after the player's move to Nike Basketball, since Converse operates under the Nike Inc. umbrella. No release date has been announced for the updated model.
