Showjumper Sameh El Dahan returns to Egypt

International showjumper Sameh El Dahan has switched his nationality back to Egypt after representing Great Britain for five years. The move was announced on 2 June 2026.

Sameh El Dahan represented Egypt at the World Equestrian Games in 2014 and 2018 before switching to Great Britain in 2021. The change followed a dispute with Egypt’s federation regarding selection for the Tokyo Olympics. During his time with Britain, El Dahan competed in two Nations Cup events at Spruce Meadows in 2023 and 2024. He remained active on the CSI5* circuit and secured a win in the CSI2* grand prix in Mullingar as his final appearance for Team GB. El Dahan has met the qualifying standards for the World Championships in Aachen this summer. Egypt’s national federation must submit nominated entries to the FEI by 6 July.
