A teaser trailer for Shrek 5 was released on June 16, 2026, offering the first plot details for the upcoming animated film. The story follows Shrek, Donkey and the ogre's family on a big-city journey that ends with an unexpected jail stint.
The teaser shows Shrek, voiced by Mike Myers, Donkey, voiced by Eddie Murphy, and Shrek's family setting off on what Donkey describes as another whirlwind big-city adventure. The family now includes two sons and a daughter.
Zendaya voices the daughter of Shrek and Fiona, who is voiced by Cameron Diaz. Saturday Night Live's Marcello Hernández and Skyler Gisondo from Superman provide voices for the sons, Fergus and Farkle. The trip does not go as planned, leaving the group minus the daughter in jail while listening to Donkey.
The film includes a quick jab at Disney's Frozen. It is slated for release on December 23, 2026. Walt Dohrn and Brad Ableson are directing, with Gina Shay and Chris Meledandri producing. DreamWorks Animation first announced the project in 2024.
