Activist Sonam Wangchuk will be discharged from Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on July 27 and will visit Rajghat before heading to Ladakh. He is recovering after ending his 26-day fast on July 24. The move follows a 36-day agitation that concluded with a ministerial resignation.
Sonam Wangchuk is expected to leave Medanta Hospital around 11.30 a.m. on July 27. His team stated that he will pay homage at Rajghat to Mahatma Gandhi prior to his departure for Ladakh.
Wangchuk broke his fast late on July 24 after 26 days. He had started the fast on June 28 at Jantar Mantar in support of students protesting alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
He was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital on July 18 and later moved to Medanta Hospital following a Delhi High Court order. The 36-day agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party ended on July 25 after the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protest had begun on June 20.
