Steve Stricker conflicted over LIV pros joining PGA Tour Champions

Steve Stricker has expressed mixed feelings about allowing former LIV Golf players to compete on the PGA Tour Champions. The 59-year-old said the senior tour would benefit from their presence but noted potential consequences for their past decisions.

Stricker shared his views in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He highlighted players such as Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Pat Perez, Phil Mickelson and Henrik Stenson as potential draws for fans. They would be hits here on the Champions Tour, Stricker said. This tour could use that. He added that as host of the American Family Insurance Championship he would welcome them to boost the event. At the same time Stricker pointed out that the players left the PGA Tour. He said each case would likely be handled individually and acknowledged there are probably consequences for any return. Pat Perez has already been reinstated by the PGA Tour but remains under suspension for the current season. Henrik Stenson's suspension is set to end in August, after which he plans to compete on the senior circuit.
