Stylist Erin Walsh celebrated the launch of her new book, The Art of Intentional Dressing, with a cocktail reception at the Portrait Bar in the Fifth Avenue Hotel. The event on Thursday evening drew clients like Anne Hathaway and Ariana DeBose, along with designers such as Stella McCartney. The book is set to release on May 5.
Inside the mirrored halls of the Fifth Avenue Hotel's Portrait Bar, guests and flashing cameras filled the space on Thursday evening for Erin Walsh's book launch. Walsh, wearing a cotton candy pink Oscar de la Renta dress from the book's cover, was joined by family, longtime clients Anne Hathaway, Ariana DeBose, and Beanie Feldstein, as well as friends including Stella McCartney, Prabal Gurung, Jennifer Fisher, Fernando Garcia, Tanner Ritchie, and Fletcher Kassell. Each guest departed with a copy of the book, which offers styling tips and advice on living intentionally through clothing and daily choices like visualization, Feng Shui, and integrating scents into routines. It features anecdotes and interviews with figures such as Rachel Zoe, Zanna Roberts Rassi, Mariska Hargitay, and Diane von Furstenberg, whose style advice shaped Walsh's approach. Walsh shared her inspiration from a decade ago, sparked by friends' and clients' anxieties over outfits, which she developed during the pandemic's early days. She told Vogue, “Being here with all these people, honestly, it’s very overwhelming. I love what I do, and I love the people and the women that I get to work with who inspire me.” She highlighted von Furstenberg's rule of intention: every day, ask, 'Who is that woman that I want to be? What does she feel like? What does she embody?' Walsh has been applying these principles while styling Hathaway for press tours promoting The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Mother Mary. “I had to lean on this method more than ever,” she said. “When you’re jet-lagged AF, and you feel overwhelmed and frazzled…think: ‘What are my three words that I need to feel today so that I can be of service, and be that woman that I want to be?’” The Art of Intentional Dressing is scheduled for release on May 5.
