Weather forecasts promise warmth in the south while the transport authority warns of traffic jams during the Midsummer weekend.
According to meteorologist Lasse Rydqvist, warmth from southern Europe is expected to reach the country on Friday. Temperatures along the Småland coast may rise to 27-28 degrees while Jämtland and Västernorrland will see showers.
In Tornedalen, temperatures are forecast between 13 and 18 degrees. Thunderstorms may form on Midsummer Day in Västra Götaland and Västra Svealand.
The Swedish Transport Administration expects traffic to increase from Thursday and peak from lunchtime on Friday. Press spokesperson Pär Aronsson advises drivers to plan their journey, be rested and choose European roads.
Celebrations are planned on Alntorps ö where boat traffic is arranged and dancing around the Midsummer pole is expected.
