Tesla FSD and app help save driver in heart attack

A Tesla Model Y with Full Self-Driving Supervised assisted in saving the life of its driver during a severe heart attack on November 15, 2025. The driver's son used the Tesla app to reroute the vehicle to a nearby hospital.

John Brandt, 55, was driving his 2026 Model Y Launch Edition on Interstate 20 early that morning when chest pain struck. With FSD Supervised engaged, he called his son Jack, an authorized driver on the account.

Jack located Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia, and sent the destination through the app. The vehicle rerouted itself, exiting the interstate and arriving at the emergency room entrance.

Doctors treated Brandt for a massive STEMI heart attack involving three blocked arteries. They stated he likely would not have survived without the prompt reroute.

Tesla shared the account on X on June 16, 2026, including comments from John and Jack Brandt. The company noted that only authorized users can alter navigation and emphasized that FSD requires driver supervision.
