The Mountain Goats have announced their new album Days as a quick follow-up to last November's release. The record features characteristically vivid song titles and was produced by John Congleton.
John Darnielle described the project in a press release as beginning with a joke about writing a song called Contemplating Pearl Jam in the Carolina Dawn. It evolved from an initial concept called Grunges into a loose reflection on the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Most tracks are in major keys, though Darnielle cautioned listeners not to be misled by that choice.
