On Friday, thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in Cádiz, Málaga and Córdoba to protest high rents and wage precarity in Andalusia.
In Cádiz, around 500 people joined the march called by the Sindicato de Inquilinas at 12:00. They started from Plaza de San Antonio and ended at Plaza de San Juan de Dios. María Sánchez, union spokesperson, said Cádiz is not a paradise for speculation.
In Málaga, more than 4,500 people according to the National Police marched from Plaza de la Merced at 11:30 under the slogan “neither sky-high rents nor rock-bottom wages”. Lula Mir of Málaga Para Vivir stated the housing crisis has reached a limit and called for progress toward a general strike.
Official data show rents in Andalusia rose 23.03% between 2015 and 2024. The Ministry of Housing reported the average price reached 2,315 euros per square meter in the first quarter of 2026 nationwide.
