A fire broke out on a boat at an island in Lake Vänern outside Mariestad on Saturday. Two people sustained burns and were airlifted from the scene by ambulance helicopter.
The alarm came in shortly after 1 p.m. Ambulance, rescue services, the Sea Rescue Society and police responded to the scene.
The boat was towed out to open water to prevent the fire from spreading. The blaze was extinguished and the operation concluded in the afternoon.
Rescue services confirmed the boat was still afloat and that the fire had been internal. It remains unclear how the fire started and how seriously the injured persons are affected.
