Uppsala Municipality is implementing several measures to facilitate voting for the elderly and people with disabilities in the election on 13 September 2026.
The municipality visits all care and nursing homes as well as SiS homes, remand centres and prisons to offer early voting on site. New this year are also visits to meeting points within social psychiatry, short-term accommodation and a secondary school for pupils with special needs.
From 26 August voters can cast early votes at any of the 19 locations. A mobile polling bus will also stop at 16 places in rural areas. Those unable to reach a location can use a proxy or book mobile voting reception.
Support includes escort assistance without affecting approved hours and sign-language staff at selected times. Information on venue accessibility is available in the Swedish Election Authority's maps. The municipality is also investing in democracy ambassadors and information in easy-to-read Swedish, sign language and other languages.
