Vice President Sara Duterte stated that the result of her impeachment case is in God’s hands as the House of Representatives prepares for a plenary vote on May 11.
In an interview in The Hague, Netherlands, Duterte said any outcome would be “written by God,” drawing from a discussion with former President Rodrigo Duterte. She expressed gratitude for public support while describing the proceedings as fabricated by the House and backed by some senators.
The House justice committee unanimously approved the Articles of Impeachment report, sending it to the plenary. Chairperson Rep. Gerville Luistro gave all 318 House members until Sunday to review the documents before the scheduled vote.
Duterte will remain abroad until May 15, traveling next to South Korea, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom, so she will miss the May 11 session. She also called it unfair that her husband, Manases Carpio, was named in the case after the Anti-Money Laundering Council flagged accounts linked to them for transactions totaling P6.77 billion.
