Sweden defeated Denmark 6–2 in the World Championship on Sunday. 18-year-old Viggo Björck became the youngest Swedish goal scorer ever.
Tre Kronor secured their first win of the World Championship after losing the opener against Canada. Goal scorers were Mattias Ekholm, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Lucas Raymond, Jakob Silfverberg, Viggo Björck and Linus Karlsson.
Björck, born in March 2008, netted the 5–1 goal on the power play with help from Ivar Stenberg. He became younger than Leo Carlsson who set the previous record in 2023.
– It is awesome, Björck told SVT Sport. Mattias Ekholm praised the young center: It is extremely impressive to see him.
Sweden faces Czechia on Monday evening in Fribourg.
