Wes Gordon incorporated elements from Georgia O’Keeffe into the Resort 2027 collection. These include metal hardware reminiscent of an Alexander Calder pin and a nubby indigo tweed jacket that nods to the artist’s interest in Japanese dress. The influences appear lightly rather than as direct copies. The designer said his goal is to create “clothes that can walk right off the runway and onto the streets of New York.” Examples include an embroidered jacket paired with skinny jeans bearing the Carolina Herrera name on the back pocket and a white cotton shirt cut to tie above the navel. Other looks feature a black party skirt printed with a Bruce Weber image of the house founder and black cigarette pants with a lavender waist sash. A short strapless dress in an iris print and a tiered tulle gown in sunset colors round out the offerings. The brand is set to open a store in Miami’s Design District in August.
