A 23-year-old man faces felony charges after a head-on collision in Milwaukee killed another driver last month.
Alan Ontiveros was charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, reckless homicide, hit-and-run involving death and other counts. The June 21 crash occurred around 1 a.m. when his Buick LaCrosse struck Faisal Hussain's Honda Civic.
Hussain, 47, died from his injuries after paramedics tried lifesaving measures at the scene. Witnesses stopped Ontiveros and a female passenger from leaving. He allegedly took a boxer stance toward one witness and told the woman, "I messed up, baby. I won't see you for a long time."
Police said Ontiveros admitted drinking five or six beers and vodka seltzers plus smoking marijuana before driving. His blood alcohol level measured 0.136 five hours later, and officers found an open vodka seltzer container in the car. He had no valid driver's license.
Ontiveros is held at Milwaukee County Jail on $150,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 6.
