The 32-year-old patient isolated in Alicante's San Juan hospital on hantavirus suspicions has tested negative in her fourth PCR test, the Conselleria de Sanidad reported on Sunday.
The woman will remain admitted to the Alicante hospital and may receive visits from first-degree relatives starting Monday with restricted hours and appropriate personal protective equipment, according to the Ministry of Health protocol.
The hospital has established exhaustive and concrete security measures, including the initial transfer in an equipped ambulance and isolation in a negative-pressure room.
On Friday, May 22, another sample will be taken for the fifth PCR test, which will be sent to the National Microbiology Center.
Authorities activated resources from the outset to ensure epidemiological surveillance of the population and health professionals after the alert received on May 8 through the European Alert System.
