Elon Musk claims Tesla's Optimus robot can build civilizations

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has described the company's Optimus humanoid robot as the first Von Neumann machine capable of building a civilization by itself on viable planets. This self-replicating system draws from theoretical concepts for space exploration and colonization. Musk highlighted its potential as the biggest product ever, though development is still in early stages.
Meta has acquired Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI), a startup developing AI for robots targeting high-value labor markets. The deal brings ARI's expertise in robot control and self-learning to Meta's push into humanoid machines. Financial terms were not disclosed.

California-based Generalist AI has launched Gen-1, a new physical AI model that enables robots to handle tasks like folding laundry, fixing other robots and stuffing cash into wallets.
