15-year-old steals bus to take girlfriend to school

A 15-year-old stole a bus in Wiesbaden to drive 130 kilometers to Karlsruhe and take his 14-year-old girlfriend to school. Police are puzzled about how the youth obtained the master key and why he could drive the bus so competently. The bus remained undamaged, and the boy was handed over to his guardians.

Early Friday morning, a 15-year-old youth stole a line bus from the yard of a transport company in Wiesbaden. He opened the vehicle without force and started it with a master key, police reported. With the bus, he drove about 130 kilometers to Karlsruhe to take his 14-year-old girlfriend to school.

"How he got the key and why he could drive the bus so well, we don't know yet," a police spokesperson said. It also remains unclear why the youth transported his girlfriend in this unusual and unauthorized manner.

The absence of the fully fueled bus was noticed around 6 a.m. Initially, it was assumed that a bus driver was out with the wrong vehicle, so the incident was only reported to police around noon. Investigations led to Karlsruhe, where a police patrol spotted the bus at midday. Shortly before, the 15-year-old had picked up his girlfriend.

The youth now faces charges of theft and driving without a license. Police handed him over to his guardians. The line bus remained undamaged.
