Army strengthens security operations on Caloto-Corinto road

Military authorities reinforced security operations on the road linking Caloto and Corinto in northern Cauca after videos showed armed men conducting an alleged illegal checkpoint.

According to complaints shared on social media, the individuals, allegedly from FARC dissidents' Dagoberto Ramos structure, had briefly stopped vehicles and motorcycles. So far, no people have been reported detained or affected.

Military intelligence indicated the group intended to use the road as bait to attack troops with improvised explosive devices in retaliation for recent operations, including the seizure of 850 kilograms of marijuana. The Army stated the members left the area before the arrival of the 29th Brigade.

Verification operations, coordinated flights with the Colombian Aerospace Force, and inspections to rule out explosives were then deployed. Authorities noted that military operations will continue permanently to guarantee security and mobility on the corridor.
