Audax Italiano lost 1-2 to Vasco da Gama at the Bicentenario de La Florida in the fourth round of the Copa Sudamericana. An own goal by Alan Saldivia opened the scoring, but the Brazilians came back with a penalty and another goal. The result leaves the Chileans with four points in group G.
The match took place in the rain on synthetic turf. In the fifth minute Michael Vadulli pressured Alan Saldivia, who scored an own goal by passing the ball to goalkeeper Daniel Fuzato. Audax dominated the first half and created chances, but a penalty was disallowed for offside preventing a 2-0 lead.
In the second half Vasco da Gama improved and in the 59th minute Claudio Spinelli converted a penalty after a foul by Marcelo Ortiz, who was sent off following a VAR review. Matheus França sealed the win in the 71st minute with a shot from outside the area.
Audax has four points and its qualification chances are complicated. Vasco da Gama leads group G with seven units. In the same group, Palestino lost 0-1 to Montevideo City Torque in Uruguay and sits last with two points.
