Felix Auger-Aliassime, the second seed at the ABN AMRO Open, secured a place in the semifinals with a 7-6 (2), 6-2 victory over Tallon Griekspoor on Friday evening at the Rotterdam Ahoy. The Canadian, who won the title in Rotterdam in 2022 and lifted the trophy in Montpellier the previous week, demonstrated strong indoor form throughout the match.
The opening set was closely contested, remaining on serve until a tiebreak where Auger-Aliassime's precise serving proved decisive. In the second set, with Auger-Aliassime leading 3-2, Griekspoor called for a medical timeout to treat his right shoulder. Upon returning, the Dutch player's movement appeared limited, allowing the Canadian to win the final four games and close out the match.
This result ended the hopes of the remaining Dutch players in the singles draw, as Botic van de Zandschulp had earlier lost to top seed Alex de Minaur in three sets, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5. Auger-Aliassime, now set to rise to world No. 6, returns to the final four in Rotterdam for the first time since his 2022 championship run.
In the semifinals, Auger-Aliassime will meet Alexander Bublik, the third seed, who defeated Jaume Munar in a late-night match. Other quarterfinal results included Ugo Humbert beating Christopher O’Connell 6-4, 6-1.
