Barbershop TV series adds Bokeem Woodbine and three others

Amazon Prime Video's upcoming Barbershop TV series has cast Bokeem Woodbine, Bresha Webb, Langston Kerman, and Tiana Okoye in recurring roles. The additions join lead Jermaine Fowler and other announced actors including Brett Gray, Punkie Johnson, Roy Wood Jr., and E.J. Bonilla. The show continues the story from the Barbershop film franchise, set in Chicago's iconic Calvin’s barbershop.

Cast Additions

The Barbershop TV adaptation on Amazon Prime Video expands its ensemble with four new recurring performers. Bokeem Woodbine takes on the role of Hustle Mike, drawing from his acclaimed television work such as an Emmy-nominated performance in Fargo, along with appearances in Underground, Halo, and Wu-Tang: An American Saga. His film credits include Ray, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Crooklyn.

Bresha Webb joins as Genevieve, bringing experience from recent series like Hacks, Run the World, and A Black Lady Sketch Show, as well as voice work in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. She also leads the Merry Liddle holiday movie series.

Langston Kerman recurs as Jeremy, following his 2024 Netflix comedy special Bad Poetry directed by John Mulaney. Kerman has contributed to projects like Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney and held roles in Abbott Elementary and The Boys, while co-creating the Peacock series Bust Down.

Tiana Okoye portrays Naimah-Jade, currently seen in Peacock's Twisted Metal and with past parts in The Good Place, Silicon Valley, and Panhandle.

Series Overview

Centered on Travis “Trav” Porter, played by Jermaine Fowler, the series tracks his efforts to uphold his grandfather's legacy at Calvin’s barbershop in Chicago. Though the barbers are fresh faces, the atmosphere buzzes with debate among patrons, sharp fades, and community bonds beyond grooming services.

Production Team

Marshall Todd, co-writer of the original Barbershop film, pens the series, executive produces, and co-showruns alongside Max Searle. Executive producers include Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley, and Mike Stein through Hartbeat Productions, plus Bradley Gardner, Cameron Burnett, and Autumn Bailey-Ford from Prominent Productions. State Street Pictures contributes, with Tiffany Brown as co-executive producer for Hartbeat. Amazon MGM Studios handles production.
