The Ottawa Senators have traded captain Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers in a major NHL deal. The move reunites the Tkachuk brothers on the same team.
Ottawa sent its captain to the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions in exchange for four draft picks. The Senators receive the ninth and 25th selections in this year's draft, plus a first-round pick in 2029 and a second-round pick in 2030.
Speculation about the trade had grown since May, when Tkachuk declined to assure general manager Steve Staios that he would extend his contract. Despite holding a no-trade clause through the 2027-28 season, the 26-year-old provided a list of four acceptable destinations that included Florida.
In Florida, Brady joins older brother Matthew Tkachuk. The siblings previously played together for the United States and won Olympic gold earlier this year.
The Panthers hope the addition will help them recover after missing the playoffs last season amid injuries, despite winning the Cup in 2024 and 2025.
