Yesterday the 22 candidates for the National Bambuco Pageant took part in a private dance and the folkloric showcase of the 65th Festival del Bambuco in Huila.
The Officers' Casino at Batallón Tenerife in Neiva hosted the first private dance before the jury. The candidates performed the Sanjuanero Huilense in two blocks.
Susana Gómez Escobar, Antioquia's representative, said she has danced since age seven and felt comfortable with the Huila audience. Valeria Portoblanco from Cartagena de Indias noted she had only 20 days of rehearsal.
The folkloric showcase took place at Parque de la Música Jorge Villamil Córdoba despite the rain. Each candidate presented costumes, dances and crafts from her department.
The jury will evaluate these performances, which count for 20 percent of the total score. The final selection of the queen is scheduled for Sunday.
