The National People’s Congress Standing Committee announced Friday night that 13 legislators had been removed and one had resigned, including six PLA generals.
The move continues the People’s Liberation Army’s anti-corruption drive.
The late-night notice from the National People’s Congress Standing Committee stated that several senior commanders had been dismissed, with prior indications they were under investigation.
General Xu Xueqiang of the Central Military Commission’s Equipment Development Department missed a major Party meeting in October. Lieutenant General Wang Kangping of the Eastern Theatre Command attended but was passed over for promotion.
Former Xinjiang Party chief Ma Xingrui and senior financial regulator Li Yunze were also stripped of their legislative status.
