Chris Haack to step down as Georgia men's golf coach after 30 seasons

Hired on July 18, 1996, Haack guided Georgia to its only NCAA men's golf championships in program history, securing titles in 1999 and 2005. The 1999 squad featured Ryuji Imada and Nick Cassini, while the 2005 team included future PGA Tour winners Chris Kirk and Kevin Kisner, along with David Denham. Under his direction, the Bulldogs claimed eight Southeastern Conference championships, with the most recent in 2015, and finished as national runners-up in 2007 and 2011. Haack also coached more than 30 All-Americans and earned national coach of the year honors twice.

Haack's program became a notable developer of professional talent, producing 12 golfers who won on the PGA Tour. Among them are major champions Bubba Watson and Brian Harman, as well as active players Russell Henley, Sepp Straka, Harris English, and Keith Mitchell. He was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

Last season, Georgia placed 22nd at the NCAA championship. The team recently signed the nation's top recruiting class for 2026, including U.S. Amateur champion Mason Howell from Thomasville, U.S. Junior Amateur winner Hamilton Coleman from Augusta, and Drew Woolworth from Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Mookie DeMoss, a former Georgia golfer and 2015 team captain, will succeed Haack after serving three seasons as an assistant. Haack is anticipated to transition into a special advisor position.
