Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 studio explores Switch 2 version

Sandfall Interactive is working on a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 amid noted technical difficulties.

The studio has confirmed interest in developing the role-playing game for the new console, driven by fan demand since its launch.

Chief technical officer Tom Guillermin described the effort as a significant challenge. "It's a big technical challenge because we tried to do something beautiful with the game, but of course, the Switch 2 is not as powerful as the PlayStation or the Xbox Series X," he said.

Some Unreal Engine 5 features do not function on the hardware, according to the developers. Lead character artist Alan Reynaud pointed to upcoming tools from Epic such as Lumen Lite that could help address performance issues.

Chief executive Guillaume Broche stated that no release window exists yet. "We are interested in looking for a way to do it, but it's too early for us to announce anything at this point," he said. The roughly 30-person team created a title that sold one million copies in three days.
