Mexico City's Head of Government, Clara Brugada, met with Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez, great-niece of Eva Perón, on Saturday at the Antiguo Palacio del Ayuntamiento. The meeting aims to strengthen cultural ties between Mexico and Argentina by promoting the legacy of the iconic Argentine leader. Brugada expressed the warm welcome for the visitor, who is also the founder of the Museo Evita in Buenos Aires.

The meeting took place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Antiguo Palacio del Ayuntamiento, the seat of the Mexico City Government. Clara Brugada, the capital's Head of Government, shared the news on her X account, accompanied by a photograph with Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez. Álvarez Rodríguez is the great-niece of Eva Perón, known as Evita, and currently serves as chief advisor to Axel Kicillof, governor of Buenos Aires province. She is also the founder of the Museo Evita in Buenos Aires.

In her message, Brugada wrote: “We received with much affection Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez, great-niece of Eva Perón, chief advisor to @Kicillofok and founder of the Museo Evita in Buenos Aires”. The leader added that her administration will work to promote the figure of Eva Perón in Mexico, as part of efforts to strengthen cultural ties between Mexico and Argentina.

Eva Duarte de Perón, globally known as Evita, was a pivotal political and social figure in Argentina in the 20th century. She began as an actress and became first lady from 1946 to 1952. During her tenure, she championed women's suffrage, advanced labor rights, established foundations to aid low-income individuals, and became a symbol of Peronism.

This encounter highlights the interest in preserving and sharing historical legacies that connect Latin American nations, fostering cultural exchanges without introducing controversial political elements.
