Colombia defeated the Democratic Republic of the Congo 1-0 in Guadalajara and secured early qualification to the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.
The decisive goal was scored by Daniel Muñoz in the 75th minute with a shot that beat goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi. The right back now has two goals in the tournament and tops Colombia’s scoring chart.
The team coached by Néstor Lorenzo dominated the match at Akron Stadium and created several chances. Luis Díaz had two goals disallowed for offside and foul.
With this result Colombia reached six points from two matches and leads group K. Argentine coach Néstor Lorenzo said: “Un partidazo de los muchachos, se mataron dentro de la cancha”.
The next match will be on Saturday June 27 against Portugal in Miami.
