Crater opens during Sabesp work and blocks three homes in Osasco

A crater opened Monday afternoon (13) in the Rochdale neighborhood of Osasco during Sabesp work. The incident caused cracks in three properties, which were blocked by Civil Defense, with no injuries reported.

The crater appeared during excavation of a service well on Rua Cuiabá for sewer network installation. Soil movement caused cracks in the homes facing the work site.

Sabesp said the three families received an emergency Pix of R$ 2,000 and were sent to guesthouses or company-rented furnished properties. Social assistance and engineering teams remain on site for assessments and area stabilization.

The company stated the aid is separate from full damage compensation and that it is investigating the causes. Residents reported warning the team about a gas pipeline risk in the area.
