Cruz Azul secured its spot after defeating Pumas de la UNAM in the Clausura 2026 final with a goal from Rodolfo Rotondi. The team claimed its tenth Liga MX title under coach Joel Huiqui.
Toluca qualified as champion of the Apertura 2025 after beating Tigres on penalties. The club earned its twelfth title, matching Chivas de Guadalajara.
The match is scheduled for Saturday, July 25 at 18:30 central Mexico time at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Liga MX started the Apertura 2026 on July 16.
