Robert Kimby says Djurgården is close to completing its offseason roster with one defenseman and two forwards still to be added. The head coach has focused on planning while assistants handle on-ice sessions.
Djurgården has held ice sessions in Stockholm since early May. New signings Lukas Vejdemo, Liam Pettersson and Henrik Eriksson have taken part in the workouts at Mälarhöjden and later at Ice Academy in Haninge.
Kimby has spent most of his time at Hovet working on logistics and team building. He noted that assistants Patrik Andersson and Michael Holmqvist have led the on-ice work.
The club still needs one defenseman and a pair of forwards beyond the yet-to-be-announced Noel Gunler. Sportchef Marcus Due-Boje leads contract talks while Kimby and the staff evaluate candidates.
The AHL final involving Gunler’s Chicago Wolves continues, and the North American market is expected to open after the NHL draft on July 1.
