Eva Rahman debuts poetry collection at Bangladesh book fair

Renowned Bengali singer Eva Rahman, writing under the name Eva Arrman, has launched her first poetry anthology at Bangladesh's premier literary festival. The collection, titled Chithi, explores themes of unspoken emotions through 48 poems. The event took place at the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela 2026 in Dhaka.

The Amar Ekushey Boi Mela 2026, Bangladesh's leading book fair, opened earlier this week with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurating the event at the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan premises. On March 1, 2026, Eva Rahman unveiled her debut poetry book, Chithi (The Letter), published by Anyaprokash. The anthology consists of 48 poems, each presented as a metaphorical letter addressing loved ones, the self, or the passage of time. It delves into love, pride, longing, and life's subtle complexities.

Eva Rahman explained her inspiration: "A letter represents the words we find impossible to speak, yet which remain etched in our hearts. This book is simply the literary manifestation of those accumulated unspoken thoughts."

This literary venture draws from Rahman's family background. Her grandfather, Mo. Ibrahim, was a noted author in Kolkata, celebrated for children's literature including Chharaity (1963) and Jalsa (1968), which sparked her interest in writing.

In music, Rahman has been prominent since her debut solo album in 2004, releasing 24 albums and earning awards such as the Kalakar Award in Kolkata. The book fair, running through March, is anticipated to attract literature fans and Rahman's music followers, connecting her musical and literary pursuits.

The launch highlights a shift from melodies to manuscripts for the acclaimed artist, bridging artistic expressions in Bangladesh's cultural scene.
