FC St. Pauli suffers eighth straight defeat against Union Berlin

FC St. Pauli has deepened its crisis in the Bundesliga, losing 0:1 to Union Berlin. This marks the eighth consecutive defeat for the Hamburg side. Union Berlin climbs to eighth place in the standings as a result.

FC St. Pauli's downward spiral continues. At Millerntor Stadium, the team under coach Alexander Blessin fell 0:1 to Union Berlin. Rani Khedira scored the decisive goal in the 35th minute from a set piece. St. Pauli goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj was unable to stop the Berliner's shot.

Captain Jackson Irvine returned to the Hamburg starting lineup for the first time in weeks. In the opening 30 minutes, the hosts showed effort but remained toothless in attack. Only a header narrowly missed the Berlin goal. Union Berlin grew bolder, initially thwarted by Vasilj, before Khedira succeeded. The home side thus went into halftime trailing.

After the break, the Hamburgers increased the pressure, backed by louder fan support. However, their attacks stayed ineffective. It was not until the 77th minute that Mathias Pereira Lage's shot hit the outside of the post, representing the game's best chance. St. Pauli clings to 16th place in the table, while Union Berlin jumps to eighth.

This loss highlights the ongoing sporting crisis for the promoted Hamburg club.
