Final hurdle cleared for Visby Roma arena

Visby Roma's arena project has cleared its last remaining obstacle. Regional authorities on Gotland can now proceed with guarantees for the planned new ice hall.

Regionfullmäktige on Gotland approved guarantees for a 264 million kronor loan in September 2025 to finance the new arena on Visborg. A private individual appealed the decision to the administrative court, but the appeal was rejected in June.

The deadline to take the matter to a higher court has now passed, leaving the decision in place. Visby Roma's sportchef André Lundholm described the development as glädjande nyheter.

The new hall is considered crucial for the club's future. It is planned to seat 2 500 spectators, with building permits expected in the third quarter of 2026 and the facility scheduled to open at the turn of 2028/29.

Visby Roma will compete in Hockeyallsvenskan this autumn and received a temporary exemption for its current venue, known as Råttboet.
