Chilean defender Gabriel Suazo, Sevilla's captain against Osasuna, voiced deep sadness after a 1-0 defeat in the 99th minute during LaLiga play. The team remains in the relegation zone with five matches left. Suazo faulted poor marking on the decisive goal and urged fighting for survival.
Sevilla lost 1-0 to Osasuna in Pamplona, with the home side scoring in the ninth minute of stoppage time. Gabriel Suazo, a starter and captain, rebuked teammates for failing to mark up, allowing an easy cross for the winner.
Speaking to DAZN afterward, Suazo said: “It hurts a lot. Despite everything, I think we gave it all, I have a lump in my throat. When we play away and need to turn the score around, they give us three minutes of added time, and now they give nine. It's crazy, really. We have to keep going, we have to keep fighting, I'll put my life on the line for this institution”.
The Chilean stressed the stakes of each game: “We went in and showed it was a final for us. It's details where we have to give our lives. We're playing a final in every match, we have to give everything”. Alexis Sánchez came off the bench for the Andalusian side.
Suazo ended with pride and resolve: “I'm proud to wear this shirt despite living a tough moment. Every time I come on, I'll leave it all out there to get the team where it deserves to be. We have to trust in each other, we have to give our lives for every ball”. Sevilla aims to escape relegation in its final five fixtures.
