DC Comics is expanding the story of Galaxy, its trans lesbian alien hero, with a new sequel arriving next week. The character also teams up with Dreamer in recent and upcoming titles. Fans and newcomers alike have a prime opportunity to dive into her adventures.
Galaxy, created by Jadzia Axelrod and Jess Taylor, first gained acclaim in 2022 with Galaxy: The Prettiest Star. The comic follows Taylor Barzelay, an alien princess known as the Galaxy Crowned, who flees her destroyed homeworld of Cyandii with refugees to the American town of Ozma Gap. Disguised as a human boy to evade the imperialistic Vane, Taylor eventually reveals her true identity as a trans woman, embracing her powers including energy manipulation and a fire-breathing hacker corgi companion. The story blends heartfelt coming-out themes with superhero action, highlighted by harrowing scenes of harassment at her high school and her declaration that “being normal is never going to save anyone.”
