Gendarme dies after being struck by motorist during intervention in Meurthe-et-Moselle

Marshal des Logis-Chef Lucas Voignier was fatally struck by a motorist on Saturday in Leyr, Meurthe-et-Moselle, during an interception maneuver. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced the death on social media platform X.

The gendarme, a motorcyclist with the Seichamps motorized brigade, was taking part in a road safety intervention when the collision occurred.

“Despite the care provided, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries,” Laurent Nuñez stated. The minister extended condolences to the victim's family, partner and colleagues.

The National Gendarmerie also paid tribute to Lucas Voignier and described the event as a road traffic accident. Further information is expected in the coming hours.
