Germany's national football team defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 in their second World Cup group match. Deniz Undav scored both goals for the DFB side.
At BMO Field in Toronto, Franck Kessié scored for Ivory Coast in the 30th minute. Deniz Undav, substituted in the 60th minute, equalized in the 68th minute and scored the winner in stoppage time for a 2-1 victory.
Coach Julian Nagelsmann praised the team's morale after the match. «We handled setbacks well», he said. Defender Jonathan Tah highlighted the team spirit.
The win puts Germany in the knockout round for the first time since 2006 after just two group games. The next match against Ecuador is on June 25.
