Sony Santa Monica revealed God of War Laufey at the June 2 State of Play event. The game puts players in control of Faye, Kratos' wife, as she navigates the afterlife realm of Everywhen.
The 20-minute gameplay trailer introduced Faye, voiced by Deborah Ann Woll, wielding a sword and magic in combat. She receives help from two companions: a talking sword voiced by Perlina Lau and a gelatinous cube named Phranque voiced by Jack Quaid. Phranque bounces across the battlefield to crush enemies. The setting draws from multiple mythologies in a land filled with dangerous magic. Social media users expressed excitement over the cube companion, with many calling it the highlight of the reveal. The game is in development for PlayStation 5 with no release date announced.
