Grupo Éxito has opened its latest Carulla supermarket in the Castilla neighborhood, part of Kennedy locality in southern Bogotá. The event featured executive president Carlos Calleja, who underscored the expansion's significance for the area. Bogotá Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán and Grupo Éxito Colombia general manager Carlos Mario Giraldo also attended.

Spanning 1,144 square meters of sales space, the store required an investment exceeding 4.7 billion pesos. Calleja noted that the opening aligns with the company's push to bring Carulla to more southern Bogotá areas. "Today, the approximately 1.2 million residents of Kennedy locality can find everything they need for their home in one place, with the best assortment, quality, close service, and promotions," the executive stated.

This year, Grupo Éxito plans around 15 store renovations to the Carulla format, bringing the total to 42 converted outlets. Giraldo highlighted enhancements like exterior murals in these conversions. The Castilla site boasts the largest of the 18 national murals. "These murals and graffiti are part of each sector's identity and reflect the wonders and characteristics of each place," Giraldo explained. The product range expanded from 1,200 to 12,000 items.

Regarding the minimum wage, Calleja confirmed a over-23% increase has been implemented without staff cuts. "We are working as a company to grow and sell more to absorb this increase. No cuts are being made for this reason, nor planned for the future," he assured. With over 33,000 employees, the firm prioritizes job opportunities.
