Hamilton details neck injury from 2025 pre-season crash

Lewis Hamilton has described how a neck injury sustained in January 2025 testing hampered the start of his first season with Ferrari.

The seven-time world champion crashed the SF-23 on the second day of private testing at Barcelona, knocking out a disc in his neck and into a nerve.

Hamilton said he could do little for nine weeks, required daily chiropractor visits, painkillers and an injection, and struggled to sleep. The injury contributed to his worst Formula 1 season, finishing sixth in the standings 86 points behind teammate Charles Leclerc with no podiums.

Speaking ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, Hamilton noted his recent first victory for Ferrari in Barcelona and current position 41 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli. He said his focus remains on winning this weekend rather than the title fight.
