The Hawks has stated that it is not investigating Acting National Police Commissioner Puleng Dimpane. The statement follows a complaint lodged by a civil organisation over payments made to a health services provider.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation said the complaint it received is linked to an existing matter handled by the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption. It added that the referral does not amount to the registration of a criminal case or the start of a new investigation.
Public Interest SA lodged the complaint last week. The group alleged that Dimpane may have contravened the Public Finance Management Act in relation to funds paid to Medicare24 Tshwane District.
Dimpane served as the South African Police Service Chief Financial Officer at the time R48 million was paid to the company. The firm, owned by Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, had received a R360 million tender in 2024 that was later cancelled.
