Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, revealed the renewal for House of the Dragon season 4 during a presentation to press in New York City on November 20, 2025. This follows showrunner Ryan Condal's earlier comments at the end of season 2 in 2024, where he stated the series would continue beyond the already-ordered season 3 and likely conclude with season 4. Bloys noted that HBO typically allows creators to decide when to end their shows but offered no definitive confirmation that season 4 would be the final one.

Season 3 of House of the Dragon is slated to premiere in summer 2026, with season 4 expected to air in 2028.
