Heidi Klum calls for more realistic men in advertising

Supermodel Heidi Klum, 52, has called for a more realistic portrayal of men in fashion and advertising. Speaking to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur on the sidelines of the Women of the Year Awards in Berlin, she said there should be more diversity, including men with receding hairlines. She cited a Vivienne Westwood show as a positive example.

Heidi Klum voiced her desires for greater realism in the fashion industry on the sidelines of the Women of the Year Awards in Berlin. "The majority of men lose their hair," the 52-year-old told the Deutsche Presse-Agentur. "I think that should be shown in advertising too. Not always just those with lots of hair, for example," the host added.

She highlighted a show by the luxury brand Vivienne Westwood at Paris Fashion Week in October, where she herself walked the runway, as a positive example. There, diverse men appeared on the catwalk, including models with receding hairlines. "I thought that was great too," Klum said.

Despite such progress, she observes a step back in diversity. "I think we're already seeing many slimmer models on the runway again, which I think is okay, but I think there need to be differences. There need to be those with curves again too," she explained. She also welcomes more older models: "I'm seeing a lot of older models, which of course pleases me personally." That's why she was able to walk in the Westwood show. "I thought that was really cool too."

The Glamour magazine award is an international event series held in countries like the US, UK, Spain, and Mexico. It honors women who shape the zeitgeist and contribute to women's self-determination. Klum was awarded as "Global Icon," with her daughter Leni giving the laudatory speech. Other honorees included rapper Badmómzjay as "Gamechanger," actress Madelyn Cline as "Next Gen Icon," and singer Leony as "Musician of the Year".
