NHL center Isac Lundeström has suffered a torn right Achilles tendon during a summer training session. The injury marks the second time in three years the Columbus player has dealt with the same issue.
Lundeström described the moment as feeling like a nightmare. He told NSD that he has felt both sad and angry since the injury occurred.
The 26-year-old sustained the tear in his right foot after returning home to Norrbotten following the NHL season. He previously tore the tendon in his left foot in 2023 and now wears a boot on the affected side.
Lundeström noted the mental challenge of the recovery, saying few other players have experienced this injury twice. He plans to return to play in the NHL but intends to finish his career with Luleå Hockey.
